Ok so long story unedited, yesterday was the day after I took out my rollers. Curious to try out the new wig cap I had just received in the mail, I unceremoniously threw my hair into a clip and stuffed it all into a wig cap, and my new Draco wig (pictured in an earlier post). I had myself a mini-photoshoot, and then decided I was done with that nonsense. Needless to say, the cute little curls you see in the previous post had suffered. So I brushed them out, and let my bangs back down, and voilà, this is what I got. So THAT'S how they got those luxurious, soft curls seen in all the old movies! My hair experienced zero heat damage, zero product damage, and a somewhat uncomfortable night of sleeping on foam rollers (which really wasn't all that bad). I highly recommend this method, and I love the results. Although the curls do get a little tangled at the end, so be careful when brushing.
So this is how my first encounter with foam hair rollers turned out. I left them in for about 20 hours--not too shabby! In addition to pulling back the bangs, I flipped the back up because it was rather awkwardly long, as you can see below...
By the by, the dress is from Goodwill. And it's not necessary to leave rollers in for 20 hours--a few hours with product should do, or overnight with slightly damp hair (as I did).
Thought I'd try a new look. When I went for a walk with Ellie, the neighbors gasped in shock. Just kidding. I'll let you know how they work out...
This outfit is just sooo chill and relaxed. It's also versatile. I wore it to the store, a party, AND a roller derby match. The 'fishnet', or lacy leggings under the shorts make them a bit more modest, without adding much (if any) heat in this hot weather. The multitude of bracelets, I made at my friend's house a day or two before--super cute! More on those in another post, I bet.
algae sparrow tunic : hand-me-down from Ima
blue denim shorts : hand-me-down from a friend
pale pink footless tights : Claire's
gold flip flops (not pictured) : W*****t
Just a little ol' thing I threw on for Shabbat dinner...
red and white gingham dress : Goodwill
strawberry locket necklace : Claire's
peachy pink bow hair clip : Glitter
kyo and rainbow bracelets : handmade by yours truly (thanks to my bff for the beads <3)
I took my cousin out to on a little shopping spree at the mall for her 12th birthday a couple weeks ago. Claire's had a sweet deal, 10 items for $10, as long as they were originally $10 or less. Then of course there was Glitter, the horrible atrocity that it is. Virtually everything is a dollar, but at what cost?
These shoes are just two of the new gems that I've added to my (overflowing) closet since my last post. I got both of them at Plato's Closet
yellow vans with fake laces - $16
gray buttoned blowfish slip ons - $8
Super discount, yay for thrift stores!
