Audrey Hepburn

The three pictures of me show what my hair looked like when somebody told me I looked like Audrey Hepburn.  I suppose if I glam it up a bit...

I suspect that the key element was the pinned back bangs...and I have to say, I like the light look of a limited fringe.

Some things from the Winter...

In order...the pink scarf is a gift from my cousins on my stepmom's side.  It has rainbow colors woven through it--very cute!  The scarf looks kind of purple in this lighting...but I promise it really is pink.  I actually rarely buy pink things for myself, so I am grateful to them for having bought it.

The pink floral dress and silk-and-bead mules are both from eBay (different sellers, of course).  The dress is very comfy, although rather vertically challenged.  This is easily rectified by pairing it with some leggings or jeans.  It is, however, a classic example of inconsistent detailing.  I bought it because it looked red in the picture...and so I expected a red dress.  Not a hot pink dress.

A Wrinkle in Time

Finally, it's done!  My good friend Minuto does film reviews via video blogs (a.k.a. "vlogs"), and his latest work is a critique of Disney's made-for-TV movie adaptation of "A Wrinkle in Time", based on Madeline L'Engle's book of the same title.  He very kindly offered me the roles of Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which.  I, in turn, offered the use of my eclectically decorated room and extensive wardrobe.  (Unfortunately my acting skills are less serviceable).  In any event, here it is divided up into three segments on YouTube.

Formalities

This is what I wore for my EAS (Engineering and Applied Science) presentations.  Except that I had to wear boots, because of the slush.  Thankfully it wasn't bitterly cold, or the tights simply would not have been acceptable.

Side note of extreme excitement...I passed my driver's license test--on the first go!  I did the maneuverability portion perfectly, for the first time ever!  He only docked points during the road test, for looking over the wrong shoulder when changing lanes.  Psh.  Looking over shoulders is for ninnies.  :-P

Today was full of many looks.  Many many looks.  This isn't even half of it.  :)  My dear friend was kind enough to ask that I play a part (three, actually) in his latest film review.  When it is all finished, I shall most certainly post a link!

Five Inch Madness

These are the lovely 5" heels that I got on eBay, for about three bucks.  I have to say though, even seeing them in person and wearing them, I can't believe they're more than 4".  In any event, they are quite a challenge to walk in!  
I was wondering what exactly it is that high heels does to make a woman's body look better.  Of course, there is always the butt thing (it gets firmer and looks tighter), but I also noticed something it does to the ankles.  For example, compare below:

 Notice how the foot, ankle and leg on the right are more shapely and curvy than those on the left.  Also notice, in the bottom photo, the extreme difference between the left and the right ankles.  It's a little scary--obviously, the foot and leg are not supposed to be bent at such an angle for long periods of time.  Unfortunately, that look is often considered to be more flattering.

Now a real clue to just how delusional some women (and those token cross-dressing men) have become...
My four year old sister tried these on, and instantly exclaimed that they hurt her feet, and she did not want her "feet to be like hills".  Yes, my dear, that is exactly how you should feel.  How is it that a child knows what's good for her even better than most adults do?

Cheerio!

This outfit, when completed, seemed to illustrate a clash of two cultures.  On the top, the white collar with the blazer gave a rather proper, English feel.  On the bottom, the elephant-like salwar kameez pants hinted of India.
Unfortunately the snow boots I had to don to brave the weather ruined the effect...

Lace Neck Lace

Today, in my boredom, I became overwhelmed with creativity.  I made a necklace out of lace and bamboo, and a bracelet out of ladybugs.  Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of the ladybugs yet...

To make the necklace, I began by woodburning a flower into a bamboo tile bead.  I decoupaged the bead onto a strip of lace.  The bead had two holes running through it longways, so I sewed it onto the lace as well, for extra security.  At each of the bead's holes, I sewed a tiny clear bead.  At each end of the lace, I sewed eighteen more of these beads, and a 'crystal' teardrop bead.  Tie it on, and voilá!  Alas, lace is very itchy...

Random idiot move of the day:  I bought 5" heels on eBay without realizing they were five inches.  I thought at most they would be 3 inches.  Oops!  At least they were dirt cheap, AND cute.  When they arrive, I will post pictures :)

You make my heart sing...

I just wanted to celebrate my two and a half months here on Blogger.  Since I began blogging in late September, I have managed to reach viewers from more than 15 countries located all over the world.  From Canada and the UK to Croatia and Singapore, I am truly flattered.  It makes me very happy to think that my fashion ideas can be seen in places I've never even dreamed of.

On another note, check out this article I found.  Green fashion is all the rage these days...I'm thinking I'd like to make an article of clothing out of some sort of recycled material.  Suggestions?

In the second picture, notice the beautiful necklace.  Unfortunately, you can't see anything in this picture.  I promise to work on that!  It is truly gorgeous.

As for the ripped up jeans...I've worn them several times now, mostly as leggings.  Here's the story.
I got them several years ago...possibly 6th grade or so.  They were amazing.  The best jeans I'd ever had.  I even loved the brand name--Angel.  My best friend and I actually founded a club called "The Angels" when we were little.
Anyway, after a few years, the pants got smaller and the rips got bigger.  My mum told me it was time to get rid of them.


But I didn't.  I kept them, hidden away.  A year or so later, I pulled them out again.  When she noticed them again, I was told to get rid of them, and I ignored her.  This happened a couple of times, finally with her saying that the only way I could keep them was for fabric, and I had to cut them apart right away.


Well, at least I put them with the rest of my fabric.  Intact.  And so here they are again, ready for the wearing.
