You Button Me Up, Baby...

...Wait, is that a good thing?
More things from Goodwill.. this teal-and-green snap-up blouse simply made me incredibly happy to look at it.  I think it and the pleated khaki skort I'm wearing have a lot of potential.

Also--I tried playing around with my bangs.  Not sure if I'll do it this way again, but for questioning minds...
I actually started from the right side of my head and braided my bangs across to the left.  I left a few bangs just normal on the right, and let a thin amount fall down on the left.  To secure the bangs, I used two bobby pins--one of which actually has a Jerusalem stone attached to it :)
(Yeah, it's that lump on the side of my head that you can't see very well..)

Mint Chocolate Chip

More lovely Goodwill purchases!!  The green hoodie is uber warm, and super soft.  It has an interesting scoop neck and the pouch/pocket reaches from seam to seam.  It is a little difficult to tell, but the skirt is actually a nice mint green with white, turquoise, orange and green pinstripes.  Oh, and it's actually a skort ;D
The other interesting piece in this outfit is the tights--check out that funky pattern!  From a distance, they look like solid black tights, but up close they're covered in elegant-looking geometric shapes.

I'll Spend a Day in Someone Else's Shoes...

I'm so pleased with myself for understanding my calculus homework, that I decided it was time to reward myself with another update.  The subject?  These awesome black leather ankle boots that I found at Goodwill today.  My mum says they're very 80s.  Very cool 80s!  In the first picture, you can see the very animal skin-like leather by the laces.  The middle picture reveals the shoes' greatest flaw--the left boot is missing its buckle.  Oh well!  I think it adds charm.  :)

Wouldn't it be nice?

As promised, I took better pictures of the scarf!  Let me just tell you how warm this scarf is...
This morning, after getting out of bed I sat in the middle of my floor to finish waking up.  All I had on was a pair of pants and a tank top--and let me tell you, I was freezing!  The closest thing to me was this lovely charcoal scarf.  So I draped it around my shoulders.

Two minutes later I was almost completely warmed up.  Amazing!

Hello, Dolly

The focus of this ensemble?  That awesome black scarf!  My good friend from the commuter center actually made it herself.  It is a tube scarf, about 6 feet long, incredibly soft and SO WARM!  The color is actually more of a rich charcoal--positively gorgeous!  Unfortunately, my pictures just don't do it justice.  Do not worry, though--I will certainly wear it again and take better pictures then!

Guest Starring, Kimi!

Meet my good friend Kimi.  Kimi wears cute clothes.  Kimi made her skirt.  Kimi buys very cute tops from Goodwill.  Look at the super cute socks Kimi got from Hot Topic.  Kimi, you are superb!

New tip I learned today?  Sticky plastic adhesive tape can be very useful in keeping stockings from slipping down!  Quite simply--a modern day garter.

Let's do the time warp...again!

Warm?  Check.  Comfy?  Check.  Cute?  Double check.
My requirements have been met.

On a side note--does anybody know of any good (free) comic-writing programs for my computer?  I don't mind doing it all by hand, but if there's any way...

Is it okay to wear blue AND teal?

Stupid lighting!  I mean really.  You are too cruel.  The skirt is GREEN, the tights are BLUE, and the boots are BROWN.  *glare*

But hey, I look tall!  :D

The Red Dress

Yay sketchy eBay purchases!
This dress is super cute!  Unfortunately, as is *almost* always my experience with eBay purchases, there was an unseen complication.  In the case of this dress, it is that cute white ribbon just around the bottom hem of the skirt, above the white ruffles.  Now let me just say, I have a womanly figure--and that white ribbon is so dang tight around my legs!  I've simply no idea what to do with it.  Suggestions?

Cyndi Lauper(s)

So as part of my weekend-long sleepover party with Ellie, we decided to go ahead and do another look-a-like.  This time, we are Cyndi Lauper!  Awesome, yes?  Who should we do next?

Part of your world...?

This cute pink number actually used to be an incredibly ill-fitting dress that my step mum's family got to play dress up with.  I've actually not done anything with the skirt part of it.  For the bodice, I cut the sleeves off and moved the waist up to just under my bust.  All around the top, I folded it over.  For the back, where the zipper is, I did not cut it or anything.  Instead, I simply sewed up to either side of the zipper, and when I zip it, it only goes up to the point that I folded.  (Confusing?  I know.  It's one of those "see it to really get it" things.  I will post more pictures sometime!)  I then attempted to add darts, but my hand sewing skills are just not up to par...
Currently, it is still strapless, although there is a belt sort of thing that came with it that I've been playing around with.
If last year, when I took this picture, I had known that I would be starting a fashion blog, I would have taken a "before" picture, and pictures with more detail.  Sometime, I will get around to at least doing "after" pictures with detail.  Until then...enjoy this one!  And look, it's my bed--in my own room!  (I moved it into Ellie's room so that I could have more space to do art.  In reality, it just made more space for my clothes to be messy.)

See the little blond munchkin by my feet?  Ellie!  We pretend that it is Ariel's dress, when she is human.

Idol

Last night was my mum's birthday, and as a little present to herself, Ellie and I, she got each of us one of these:
A little bit about the "author", Emily Martin, whom I adore.  She has a few blogs, which my mum and I both enjoy reading.

Her all-things-artsy blog:  The Black Apple
Her fashion-y blog:   Some Girls Wander
And the blog that goes with her paper doll book:  Milkland

So I highly recommend checking her stuff out, because her stuff makes me all squishy in its awesomeness.  A little steam punk, a little period, a little fairy tale, a little traveling circus, and a whole lot of awesome.

Hot Chocolate

A very fun combination of classy and childish, this outfit features a sweatshirt embellished by my grandmother Connie.  She put her mad sewing skills to a simple purple top and produced this beautiful unicorn masterpiece--several years ago.  So I figured--hey, it's time to wear it again!  It still fits (mostly)!
Accent the ensemble with extra jewelry, for the childish touch...but make sure at least some of it is classy too!  Voila!  Hot chocolate.

Opinions Please?

Dude, I have comments and it makes me happy!  :3  Nothing makes me more bubbly than feedback (especially when it is nice)!  It is always interesting to hear other peoples' opinions.  They give me ideas for new things--for example, I am looking for a new person to do a look-a-like of.  Last month, when I cut my bangs, I did Bettie Page.  Now I want to try someone else--I'm looking for someone with fun fashion, of course.
